While hiking in the Canadian Rockies, filmmaker Xin Liu discovers an antler—an encounter that draws him back to the mountains over two years and across four seasons. Following the animals who inhabit this landscape through life and death, migration and reproduction, the film gradually loosens the boundary between observer and observed. Moving between colour and black-and-white imagery and unfolding without dialogue, A World Without is both a meditation on the cycles of the living world and a quiet self-inquiry: what remains when the mountain, the camera, and the filmmaker are no longer separate?
